Kristina Hansson and Birgitta Sahlén presented at the conference on paediatric cochlear implants (CI) at the  Nordic Research Day, January 27,  in Copenhagen. They were reporting on their research starting in 2002 on cognition and communication in older and younger generations of children with CI. A particular question they addressed was whether the picture has changed over the years and they concluded that prognosis has improved, but there is still a higher risk for language impairment in early implanted children than in children in general.
