Magnus Haake and Jens Nirme attended the Intelligent Virtual Agent Conference August 27-29 in Boston. Conversational agents in health applications was a focus of the conference, but other topics included gestures, language, animation and social- and affective behavior. Our contribution was as collaborators on a presentation and a poster about a teachable agent based application for teaching history to 11 year old children, together with Camilla Kirkegaard and Annika Silvervarg from Linköping University as well as Betty Tärning and Agneta Gulz. The work was well received and we much enjoyed other interesting talks and as much of Boston as we had time for.
