“The 15th ICPLA Conference (International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association) was held at Karolinska Institutet, Solna, 11-13 June 2014. Kristina Hansson gave an oral presentation on “Lexical skills in Swedish children with differerent degree of hearing impairment”, (Tina Ibertsson, Lena Asker-Árnason, Siri de Geer, Birgitta Sahlén and Kristina Hansson) and Birgitta Sahlén gave one with the title “How does the teacher’s voice and back-ground noise in the classroom affect childrens´comprehension and learning?” (Viveka Lyberg Åhlander, Magnus Haake, Jonas Brännström, Susanne Schötz and Birgitta Sahlén).

Posters were presented by Joost van de Weijer (“Simon says… Can observational learning improve argumentative writing in students with hearing impairment?” Joost van de Weijer, Victoria Johansson, Viktoria Åkerlund and Birgitta Sahlén) and Lena Asker-Árnason (“Peer observation and self-efficasy in narrative writing”, Emily Grenner, Viktoria Åkerlund, Victoria Johansson, Lena Asker-Árnason, Martine Braaksmaa and Birgitta Sahlén).

The topics for the conference presentations are voice, prosody, nasality, articulation & phonology, grammar, semantics & pragmatics, multi- & bilinguality, reading & writing, motor speech control, intelligibility, language comprehension, talk-in-interaction, ACC & multimodal communicationand psycho- & neurolinguistics.
